Welcome to the VL Resource Library

The Virtual Laboratory for Training in Satellite Meteorology is a networked system of meteorological satellite operators, six "centres of excellence" at WMO Regional Meteorological Training Centres in Barbados, Costa Rica, Niger, Kenya, China and the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia, and the WMO.

The core of the Virtual Laboratory is its Resource Library. The Resource Library, not only acts as a repository for a wide range of teaching resources, such as course material, lectures, keynote presentations, imagery, software, publications, etc., but also acts as a place where comprehensive descriptions of available material (also known as resource Meta-data) is stored. This Meta-data allows effective cataloguing and searching for material matching the requirements of students or trainers alike. Physically, the Virtual Resource Library and associated web- based interface elements are located on several servers, connected to the Internet. Currently the main sites can be found in Australia at BMTC/BoM, Europe at EUMETSAT, Japan at JMA (note, it is necessary to first register with JMA to obtain a username and password, and the USA at CIRA/NESDIS.
